3 Sisters Market is a small, family owned local grocer/retail location that has been supporting the local Whidbey Island economy since 2013. 3 Sisters Market carries a wide selection of local goods ranging from meats, eggs, baked goods, dairy products, handmade goods, home décor, health and beauty, beer, wine, cider, and anything we can get our hands on made exclusively in WA. We strive to meet the customers’ requests and have a high quality of service that is reflected in our day to day procedures and atmosphere at 3 Sisters Market. We are looking for someone to join our team that has knowledge in the food industry (retail/restaurant) that enjoys supporting local, and will bring a strong work ethic to the table.

Part Time Sales Associate 

Compensation: $11.50 Hourly                

Job Requirements: 20+/- Hours Weekly

 We are specifically hiring for a sales associate that is willing to work with a non – traditional schedule of AM and PM shifts anytime 7 days a week.

If you CANNOT work weekends, please DO NOT apply. You must be available to work any of these days and shifts, but also be flexible for schedule changes depending on the time of year. 

* Be 18 year or older with reliable transportation
* EXPERIENCE in food retail, grocer experience, or sales
* MUST have at least 1 year of customer service and cash register experience
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong time-management skills and multitask in a high pace environment

* Know how to use computer, POS program (not required), Word, Excel

Assistant Manager 
Start Compensation: $15-$17/hourly DOE
35+/- hours

Position Summary: 3 Sisters Market is seeking an assistant manager that has the experience to responsibly supervise staff and ensure prompt, friendly, outstanding customer service, accurate cash handling, and help set store moral, while meeting goals for labor expense and sales quotas. Along with inventory management, shipping, social media management, and other daily tasks involved in making 3 Sisters Market thrive.

General Responsibilities for 3 Sisters Market Assistant Manager

Customer Service:
Role model excellent customer service for staff and provide excellent internal service to staff and peers.
Ensure employees provide excellent customer service and receive appropriate training.
Answer all customer comments/complaints in a timely manner.
Explain store policies and procedures clearly, completely and concisely to staff, members, customers, and vendors.

Financial Practices:
Participate in development of annual budget and long term strategic planning for labor and operating expenses and capital spending.
Meet labor, sales and margin goals determined in conjunction with 3 Sisters Market Owners
Maintain pricing structure that meets budget goals.
Maintain working knowledge of personnel reports, weekly sales numbers and financial goals.
Work with pricing department (3 Sisters Market Owners) to maintain accurate PLU's and prices in POS system.
Communicate relevant sales, margin and labor goals to staff on a regular basis.
Communicate standards, expectations, policy changes and product knowledge to staff.

Management Practices:
Actively participate in management and other planned meetings.
Stay current on global/local trends and changes that affect the natural foods industry.
Work with 3 Sisters Market Owners to maintain and improve product mix.
Work with 3 Sisters Market Owners to develop promotional programs when needed
Respond to challenging situations in a positive and professional manner including proposing new ideas or better ways of doing things.
Demonstrate regular, predictable work attendance.
Demonstrate a willingness and ability to cooperate and communicate with co-workers, supervisors, staff and/or outside contacts in a timely and appropriate manner.
Model supportive leadership qualities that motivate staff to achieve store goals and promote staff participation and team building.
Complete goals and tasks in a timely manner, meeting established deadlines.
Follow health and safety rules appropriate to 3 Sisters Market.

Personnel Practices:
Actively address performance and personnel issues in a timely manner.
Follow 3 Sisters Market policies in the spirit intended.
Work with 3 Sisters Market Owners and team members to develop goals, standards and procedures.
Establish systems for communication and promote staff participation in store development and input on issues affecting staff.
Ensure that staff evaluations are completed properly and on time.
Organize and facilitate quarterly staff meetings.
Work with HR/3 Sisters Market Owners to coordinate hiring process.
Follow good documentation practices.
Ensure that all staff in store receives appropriate orientation and training.
Develop and maintain useful departmental training materials alongside 3 Sisters Market Owners and provide follow up training to ensure that standards are met uniformly by all staff.
Ensure appropriate safety training for all departments/areas of 3 Sisters Market
Ensure up-to-date store staffing schedules are posted three weeks out.
Make suggestions to 3 Sisters Market Owners regarding customer service issues.
Make suggestions to 3 Sisters Market Owners about needed improvements regarding customer service
Hiring, training, on-going feedback, and annual evaluations
Ensure adequate store janitorial/office supplies are available.
Ensure all WA Department of Labor and Industries rules and guidelines are followed

Ensure accuracy and security of all cash received through front end, by upholding money-handling procedures and giving feedback to cashiers on over/shorts.
Work with Whidbey Tech Solutions and PC America to ensure proper functioning of POS system, and troubleshoot system problems as needed.
Develop and maintain cashier training system.
Ensure adequate register supplies are available.
Ensure cashiers are aware of price changes, specials, and all changes in store policies and procedures affecting cashiering.
Coordinate tasks and projects for cashiers when there are no customers to check out.

Oversee all day to day operations of store.
Oversee daily work routines for store.
Oversee and facilitate ordering and receiving of all items/products and supplies.

Other Duties:
Familiar with and able to explain all products/promotions/services simply, efficiently and completely
Keeps 3 Sisters Market Owners informed of any problems and/or ideas
Keeps 3 Sisters Market Owners, staff notified of whereabouts or schedule changes
Maintain a high level of product knowledge; communicate relatable product information to team.
Know and promote 3 Sisters Market Principals, Vision, and Values, and follows 3 Sister Market work policies and procedures
Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as directed by the 3 Sisters Market Owners
Manage 3 Sisters Market social media platform of Facebook and Instagram
Shipping – wholesale orders and in store purchases once a week

Requirements and Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a management role
Be prepared to provide proof of management experience
Store Operations (Inventory, Labor Management, Cost Control)
Marketing (Pricing, Merchandising)
Proven customer service skills
Ability to work closely and cooperatively with others
Familiarity with natural foods and regionally identified products
Experience supervising and managing staff in a food service or retail setting preferred
Ability to simultaneously track and manage a large quantity of detailed information
Willingness and ability to learn and to meet the changing requirements of the job
Ability to work with little or no supervision, communicate effectively and work under deadlines
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; some mornings, evenings, holiday, and weekend shifts required
Basic understanding of retail concepts and of retail industry
Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task, including organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Effective communication skills
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook/Gmail)
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. throughout shift, occasionally 60 lbs
Ability to stand for long periods, bend and twist repeatedly, lift product overhead, and/or to climb small ladder with product

Essential Physical Requirements:
Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Bend and stoop to grasp objects. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
Ability to climb ladders
Bend and lift loads, up to 60 pounds.  
Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.

Work Environment:  Fast paced retail grocery environment with high volume customer service. Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: telephones, human voices, music, and weather. Some work will be performed in an office environment while sitting for long periods of time.
